A New Era of Knowledge Management in China’s Petroleum Enterprise
- Successful Acceptance of Daqing Exploration and Development Knowledge-Base Management System and Application Project

Jurassic is pleased to announce that the Project, “Development and Application of Exploration Evaluation Knowledge-Base Management System”, today was successfully accepted by Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd., which will create a new era for enterprise knowledge management in China’s petroleum industry.

Fifty years of exploration in Daqing Oilfield has accumulated a great deal of valuable information. However, the vast amount of dispersed information is mostly cataloged with different standards in various databases of different structures. It is very hard to get a full picture of the data available when it is time for some decision making or research.

Exploration Evaluation Knowledge-Base Management System, developed by 23 technicians and experts of Jurassic Software, solves all the problems by providing the exploration researchers with capabilities to get the latest research result of interests and tracking its historical explanations, thus realizing the multi-disciplinary analysis through online search and display. 

During the acceptance test, the leaders and experts gave high praise to the project: It is not only a powerful database spans the gulf fixed of dispersed knowledge and less involved data with the assessment results of basins, exploration blocks, traps and reservoirs for decision making and special research, but also a guideline for our future reference.

Exploration Evaluation Knowledge-Base Management System applied the knowledge management ideas to the existing performance of oil exploration evaluation by breaking the traditional thought of equating knowledge management with file or archive management. Meanwhile, the successful acceptance of Exploration Evaluation Knowledge-Base Project by Daqing Oilfield also predicates that such innovation, in line with the future development of oilfields, will urge China’s petroleum industry forge ahead toward a new age of enterprise knowledge management.
